Minneapolis area stores

I will be in the Minneapolis area next week and I am looking for a reputable store to purchase some corals and possibly a fish or two. Any one know where to start? I've looked on Yahoo local and around the web, but would like someone with personal experience b4 going.

Thanks

Re: Minneapolis area stores

Check out World of Fish, and then the store Something Fishy both are about two blocks apart. Both have a good selection of fish and corals but some stuff can be pricey. They are in the Richfield area but it's close enough to minneapolis.

If you want a better response to some more LFS in the area I would visit www.thereeftank.com and look under the TCMAS forum (Twin Cities Marine Aquarist Society) those guys have alot of experience with the stores in their area.

Re: Minneapolis area stores

Lryder,
I would recommend Word of Fish over something fishy.

I've run into some problems with Something Fishy. I've never had any problems with there live stock, but there dry goods are plagued with problems. I've purchased a Bad Test Kit, Faulty R/O membrane, and a bad 200 Gal bucket of Salt. I had to go direct to the manufactures of salt and Test kit to get a resolution. The manager is difficult to communicate with.

I've never had any problems with World Of Fish, but they are a bit pricy. The staff at World of Fish are much more knowledgeable.

There is a shop up in Brooklyn Park called Fish & Friends Inc (763) 391-0768. Great place

Also there are a couple of good private traders in the area, Check out Frags.org and search by location.

Re: Minneapolis area stores

Oi!

To all that read this post, if you could go to;

http://fins.actwin.com/dir/stores.php?c=1

you wil find a very good list that I have been using.

Now, if ANY of yous out there find that there is a store that is NOT on the list for your state, town, etc. I would hope that you do the following, I have put about 10 stores in this list myself because I didn't find them either.

What you do is look for the store that you know of, and if it is not there, click on one of the [edit] buttons after the names, any [edit] will do; that will bring up another screen where you can enter all the information that you have about the store: Name; Address; phone; e-dress, etc. etc. what you would find on most calling cards, I use them when I do this so all the information that the store has will be in there.

Anyhoo then click the submit [or whatever the button is] and the information will be added to the list. It takes about a week for the information to get on since they do check, but it is a great page of information and it is great when you go to other town to look for 'stuff'.

I hope that you all will do this. Every time I sea a post like this I always post this information, so some of you might have seen this response from me before.

I hope that this post helps.

Cheers!
