| Sea Pen | Making a Seaclone better ?? When I started 10 months ago I bought what I could locally. Question being is there any modifcations to make a SeaClone skimmer work 25% a well as a $300 + shipping ($50+) Precision Marine Skimmer ? I use Coralife lights how do their skimmers rate. I collect pennies so throw me your 2 cents worth. Thanks |

| Torch coral | Re: Making a Seaclone better ?? I've personally seen Coralife Super Skimmers in action, and they were quite impressive.. I've also heard the users of them rant and rave, but personally I don't know if they are actually worth all of their hype,,, I know they have the needle-wheel design that helps kick out some foam...other than that my personal experience with them is limited. However I can tell you a good mod for the Seaclone, take off the pump, and attach it to a different skimmer. LOL! Kidding aside, putting a more powerful pump on the skimmer would help somewhat with the skimmers performance.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Making a Seaclone better ?? Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to that seaclone to make it work like a PM skimmer. Sorry. Some mods you can try would be to remove that little peice of smaller diameter acrylic tube in the middle of the skimmer, add and airstone. Not sure what else you can try. I've heard the good reviews on the corallife skimmers, I have a few customers that have purcahsaed them and are extemely happy. From looking at them in person I don't think they are as good as say a Euroreef or ASM type skimmer, but for an off the shelf skimmer they look pretty good, best thing put out by any of the big manufacturers (Kent, ESU, Marineland). I'm putting one on our reef tank at work to check out how it works here in the next few weeks, the biggest one they make. I'll let you know what I think. From what I understand as far as hang on skimmers go, they are just as good as any other skimmer out there. You might also want to check out Euroreefs website, he mentioned he was in the process of creating a hang on skimmer, although it isn't on the top of his to do list at the time. Might want to see if that is coming out any time soon.
