Question wierd thread from my leather

Everyone..
As usual, preparing to go to sleep, I took one last long gaze at my reef, under the actinic lights/ To my surprise a long thread-actually two -that stretched to the surface of the tank and had small segments was coming from my leather coral under one of the "arms". Interestingly this was not the usual featherduster type of goo.. It retracted very quickly, and shot up up again in both strands. It did not look like a worm, but the behavior reminded me of such. Has anyone see this? I was too freaked to get an image -but be sure I will be back later on with my red light...

Most certainly not something I expected...

(I have a 55 corner reef, and am new to the addiction <6 months>//this is my first Leather ever)

Any info would be much appreciated.
To re-cap these strands moved independently and expanded and retracted really quickly, right under the coral arms..
thanks all
Michele
