| Torch coral | Pondering a new money pit! I've been thinking for a few weeks now about starting up a nano tank. I have two possible options to go with: 1.) Buy a stock JBJ Nanocube DX and do a few lighting and flow moderations. or 2.) Attempt to build a custom acrylic cube, to what dimensions I really have no idea, but with a built in overflow for a refugium/sump, and to create a some great flow. I was pondering a 18x18x16 cube thinking that would look cool, and adding Eurobracing. What do you all think I should do? Comments, suggestions? Jason

| Neon dottyback | Re: Pondering a new money pit! I usually make my choices about small tanks based on the lighting needs. Like if I was using these whatever watt pc's they would fit best in a shape. Or if I was going to run a single halide than 18 x 18 might be a good choice. I love DIY, I would make my own tank. But that is just me.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Pondering a new money pit! I'd get the JBJ set up. I know what it will look like (a far cry from me making an aquarium), I know it will hold water , and It comes with a warranty. I always go for the 'plug-n-play' items I like that coolio twisted black stand they sell for them too...

Right now this has me thinking...buy the 12g Nanocube DX, structurally sound and I can figure my budget, and down the line I could add components that I want to the tank. Thanks for the input everyone. This nano will be a bit off in the future, tuition is due in a few days ![]()
