Re: salt creep

At the top of the tank or the bottom? If it's the top, i can definitely say I've experienced that before and it wasn't an issue. Bottom, I might be concerned...

Re: salt creep

dry the area, then keep an eye on how it forms. are you using a fan in your sump area? that may be a factor. if it was a leak it would run vertical but it can if extremely slow go horizontal.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Re: salt creep

How high are you filling the water in the tank? If it touches the rim when the tank is filled then the water will wick out of the tank under the rim. If you have a lot of surface movement where the surface is breaking and you are getting a little bit of splash then that can lead to salt creep over time as well.

Re: salt creep

Well its not good.
I woke up to day to find that the small bit of salt creep on the bottom of the tank has turned into a fast drip. not looking good at all. I pulled out the 80# of rock and 4 fish and put them in a Rubbermaid bin. got a heater and a protein skimmer running on it. I really don't know what im going to do. Right now I do not have the Time,Money or the Will to set this back up. I think im going to sell my live stock, and maybe start back up in a year or two.I really don't want to do this but I do not see any other option
