I had one do this to me. I moved it back into place and it moved itself again. So I then moved it to another place, it did not like it there. So after moving it to I think the 5th place it liked it and reattached itself. So I think they can unattach them selves with out hurting themselves. That is just my experience.

Just be careful, the clam can damage itself by falling from where you put it. So if you think it may move put some rock around it so if it does it will not hurt it self. Check your lights out, they may need cleaned. It my be moving because it needs more light.

ditto!!!

also gould be flow (to much)

mine moved from the rock i had it on and turned its self (becaues of to much flow) then attached to a snail shell , finally found its place and let go of the shell and attached its self to a rock now

in short, this happens, you just have to find its spot

good luck and keep us posted

Great answer, but when you change bulbs, lower your photo period till they get use to the new intense lighting. Don't want to stress him/her

many factors here to weigh in, how far did he fall what angle did he hit at, did he tumble smacking rock as he went or straight to the sand. clams can be tough,,,yet on the other hand the wrong bump and thats it. pray for the best, and keep an eye in him.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

hes just chillin in the sand now, it fell about 6 inches, i noticed that it had moved itself almost 90 degrees after i rearanged the rock work because of an anemone. he looks happy, and ill clean the glass of all saltcreepe on the lights... the mh are only 5 months old so i dont believe it has anything to do with that

btw johnny, im sorry for your loss
