The Seavisions dialyseas and CADS have arrived!

Hey guys, I know a lot of ppl are interested in there and I am not too sure what forum it would go into. Mods, when ya figure it out please move the thread to there =).

So far I have had no time to play with this stuff other then plug it in and put a few things together. My initial impression is that this thing is pretty darn slick, both the CADS and the dialyseas system. They seem very well designed and thought out. One thing I didn't know is that I need to buy a small wet vac for the CADS system. I think that should have been stated on their site somewhere.

A few minor gripes, and one major gripe. First the minors, the stickers on the dialyseas looks like when they were printed that the printer was running out of ink as there is streaks all through both stickers on the front of the unit. This is kind of irritating when buying this caliber of equipment. Also the sticker on the right goes over a red LED and is supposed to be clear over that area, the streaks kind of "smear" the red lead readout, again irritating when you drop this kind of change.

Second, the darn double stick tape on the CADS unit will not hold the darn UV sterilizer in place, again an irritating, but not mechanical problem.

Now for the major gripe. The unit only came with one dialysis filter on it. On their site and in the manual it shows the dialyseas system I purchased with TWO filters its also stated on their specs page. The two lesser systems they have come with one filter. I am sure you can see why I am a tad disgruntled here. I assume two would double the capacity of filtering the unit could do per day.

Lastly no instruction manual for the cads. This is not a super complicated setup, but a nice manual with a blown up diagram should be expected with this type of equipment.

I have dispatched an email to them with the attention to the fellow who sold me this equipment. I sure hope he gets back to me promptly as the first time i mailed inquiring about this stuff it took weeks for a return mail. I have a bit too much on me during the day to worry about calling these guys.

Now...on with the pics =)...sorry they are below par for me, but my brother dropped my slr lens in the water in Alaska a few weeks back and I haven't had time to send it out yet to get it cleaned =)

Notice the one dialysis filter on the bottom center of the machine:

You can kind of see the streaks here:

And here is the CADS unit:

Re: The Seavisions dialyseas and CADS have arrived!

Thanks for being less lazy then me LR! Now I am very jealous of Chris's filter. But i agree that with a price tag like that little things like cosmetics should have been perfect.

cool piece of equipment Chris. I want to know how you like it in a couple weeks. If you can see a difference and if it is worth the money. Also, if something breaks on it, do they fix it or have parts to replace? You were saying, no manual which is dumb but it does look easy to use. Keep us updated!!!=)

Hey Witful, they perform the following:

In a nut shell, you can choose how much water you want to dialize a day up to I think its 60gpd. I will probably do about 5 gpd on my new setup which will be like 140g per month. Essentially the dializer will strip the water of any impurities including most of the salt and return it to DI water and return it back to the tank. Then it injects ro di water into a bucket of salt which has an overflow at the time. The salt water over flows into the tank to make sure that the tank water is always at the preset salinity. It will also dose calcium to keep your levels up if need be, auto top off and monitor/control just about every parameter on your tank. Most of the chemicals are controlled by the daily salt supplementation.

The CADS has the tank water over flow into this chamber where there is a very fine mesh screen (maybe 150u i think don't quote me) and as it clogs up, the water level builds in the chamber causing a float switch to trigger and a electronic ball valve diverts water around the screen. The screen then rotates as it gets vacuumed clean, then the process repeats. They said its so sensitive that if I just stir the sand bed it comes on almost immediately.

You can get better details on both systems here:

Thanks Jen! I will probably not have it hooked up till the new tank is here and all the hard stuff is done (still a little ways away been very busy =(). I am sure I will see a difference! I am not up on water changes as I should be and sometimes I see the effect of that. This will change the water for me every 30 minutes 24 hours a day up to 60g a day. I will probably have it change about 150g a month on my large tank. They are pretty good with customer service and Gerry, the president assured me any issue that may arise will be handled promptly. This is backed up by a customer I met and talked with about it that uses his dialyseas on his reef tank.

Yeah, not many ppl have pics of them on reef tanks as not many ppl spring for the money for the equipment. You see mostly pics of what they do, and they don't really provide reefs but fish only tanks for the rich =)...so you see these units plumbed to them tanks. Not many ppl have them on their reef tank.

It was kind of out of my range as well, but its better for me to have this and feel at ease when I am traveling then coming home to a tank full of coral dead for some crazy reason, not that it cant happen, but after this tank is set up it will take a tree crashing through my house for it to =).

Re: The Seavisions dialyseas and CADS have arrived!

Woodood, they mailed me and explained that the reason for one dialysis membrane is because its a new model that has double the capacity of the original. So, now they use only one membrane and its different then the one they use on the lesser models.

rckmtl....thanks =P

It looks very cool but it sounded real noisy when that vaccum came on, is it just me ?
