| Torch coral | Purple Up and Kordon's Rid Itch Has anybody ever tried PurpleUp or Kordon's Rid Itch? I'm only considering Kordon's Rid Itch, because it says (and their tech support says) that it will not harm live rock or anything else. Sorry, I can do a hyposalinity because I can catch all the fish withou dismatling the tank. Just curious, every fish that I put inside the tank will get itch for a couple of weeks and then disappear. Whenever I add a new fish, they are the only ones that get itch after about a week, but then it will also disappear in about a month. |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Purple Up and Kordon's Rid Itch Those products are useless and will not get rid of Ick and there's no such thing as reefsafe medications IMO. What happens is that your fish that are established if they survive will buildup immunity to the parasite but since the parasite is in your tank any new additions will become infected usually because of a weakened immune system from the netting and transportation, although some are more susceptible then others.

| Pistol Shrimp | Re: Purple Up and Kordon's Rid Itch The ich rid will kill off your pods. Reef safe my A... The other thing I learned was to read and compare percentages on most products. Purple up is calcium ( you got that covered right?) Iodide, in yer salt mix and one or 2 other things. So really it just seemed to me like a trace supplement. I took a pass and left it on the shelf. |

| Serpent Star ![]() | Re: Purple Up and Kordon's Rid Itch Yeah, if you read the purple up lable really close..or maybe it was the website... it basically says that it works better because the solution is chemically aligned to be 'attrached; to the rock..in thoery allowing the calcium, ect to be absorbed directlly by the corilline algae and not other stuff... but I would think that either the algae would absorb it slow enough that it would end up mixing with the water before hardly any was absorbed... or that it is allready in enough of a solution that it is no diffrent the adding trace supplements. But I'm not a science major... it just seemed more like hype then a needed product
