Anyone seen Noah??

AAAAHHHH!!!
Where the heck is Noah at when you need him? Yep, that's right FLOOD!! Installed a new sump & skimmer under my 40 gallon this morning. Tested and all worked as planned, with a few changes to be made later. (sooner now) Something has caused me to lose about 4 or 5 gallons of nice clean salt water into the carpets, and of course, into a portion of the room that is packed full of stuff and a closet full of stuff.
Needless to say, my wife is just thrilled.
We were getting the last touches on the Christmas decorations, and the grandkids were coming tonight for a couple of days.
Spent a couple of hours with the trusty wet-dry vac, and have 4 fans going on the floor to dry things out. I had planned a few changes in this room after the first of the year, maybe that will get pushed up a bit now too!
Thanks for letting me vent!

Thanks all, it could have been a whole lot worse. Fortunately, I'm trying to get by with a 10 gallon tank for a sump, so it doesn't hold a LOT of water. Came in the house and heard one of the pumps sucking air. Uh-Oh!! Still haven't done the trouble shooting, just got the clean & drying process started,, and threw up my hands for tonight. I suspect I'm gonna have to go rent a carpet cleaner in a couple of days. It'll take me that long to get some things moved around so I can do the whole area.

If it had been the 180, I think I'd have just packed up & disappeared into the wilderness. But she'd probably hunt me down anyway!

She's already dropping hints about new carpet &/or tile...$$$$$$$$

Craig Manoukian: thx!

BoomerD: new tile... mmm... mine was just put in for the hallway i flooded.. gotta seal the grout today as a matter of fact! LOL!

if u do do tile (heehee, i said do do) then lemme know. the guy who did it for me charged $3/sq foot to install which i think is pretty good. if it's not a good price, don't tell me, ok? LOL

but basically we supplied the tile/grout, he supplied the labor and whatever else he used. some tile cement or something... installed the tiles diagonally too, nice effect. he's in fresno, but maybe he'd go up there to do it for ya? dunno..

Ouch! I hate getting salt out of the carpet! I swear the next place I set up another tank will have tile flooring! I spent a week drying out my carpet from spilling 10 Gal on it! (Thank goodness it wasn't saltwater this time though!)

I've been fairly lucky over the years, this is the worst SALT water spill in over 15 years of keeping marine tanks. Fresh water however, is another matter. I had a 100 gallon tank, with a hong-on siphon pre-filter, and BEFORE I found out about anti-siphon holes in the return line, my Hydrothruster pump shut down one day, and back-siphoned about 30 gallons out of the tank. Fortunately, I had built the bottom of the stand to include a "tub" that caught about half of it. My wife made me sell tha tank, and until this February, I've been "sumpless". She keeps referring to the "GREAT FLOOD OF '91"!!
