Is this a BAD pest

Hi to all, my name is Brian and I live in Anchorage Alaska. I have started my first reef tank and will be comming here often to ask questions and learning more about the art of reef keeping. I got some live rock frags with these little plant like things on them. I was told that they are BAD. Can someone let me know if this is true. I bought a small bottle of Ph down to kill them if they are. I also have another pic of something else I need to get an ID on. I will post that later. Thanks to all, BHinAK

Aiptasia!! Kill it quickly! They are indeed pests. Purchase some 'Joe's Juice' to kill it or inject it with a hypodermic needle using hot vinegar.

Thanks for the confirmation on the ID of my pictured pest. Luckily my tank is just starting an i can easily take the 5 or 6 frags out and kill the pest outside the main tank in a pyrex flat pan. Then watch them DIE.

Put Peppermint Shrimps (NOT camel) in the tank. It will take some time, but they will eventually eat all of them...you'll still have to feed your shrips though. I also have th Aiptasia on a 12G tank, but they haven't multiple beyond 6 to 8. I like seeing them there.
