| Star Polyps ![]() | Light set up I am replacing my 96w power compacts on my 125 reef. I have 6 pc's. i like the look of blue and am thinking of 4 actinics and 2 10k white. i have 3 bulbs on each side. i am thinking of actincs (2) on back rows whites (2) in middle row, and actinic (2) in front row which ends up being in the center of the tank as measured front to back. 1 want 10 hours of light and plan on noon to eight pm on front blues. 4 to 6pm on middle whites and 1pm to 7pm on back blues. i have half a dozen softies and 150 lb live rock. 2" sand bottom. suggestions and or comments greatly appreciated. |

| Midas Blenny | The actinics sound good but why not put 2 175w 10k MH's in the middle or even 250w depending on how deep the tank is. You will not be disappointed with the MH's they will make the tank look 100% brighter. IMO MH's are the only way to go.

| Scopas Tang | I think your suggestion for only 2 whites? is going to give you a too blue aquaium even if you like blue. consider Reefaholic's post. good advice then you could run some 14000 k mh with attinics and throttle up & down the mh if you select a dimmable mh system on timmers. only my thought. hope it helps. |
