| Serpent Star ![]() | "should I just feed my 220 gal tank all of it at one time." How many shrimp are we talking about here? (example: 1 tsp of eggs in 1 liter of water) If you have not raised BS before, one thing to know is that all the eggs won't hatch at once, so make sure just to siphon off the live shrimp and keep the culture going with the leftover eggs. there are some other tips as well, if you are curious about that? as far a storage, when I used to freeze them in batches, I liked to thaw a cube of formula one and mix in a tablespoon of BS, then re-freeze it. I liked those ice cube trays that are made out of really flexible plastic and make like a hundred mini-cubes. If you just let them stay in the culture, you can keep it going continuously by just siphoning off the live shrimp and half the water, then replacing it with new water(same salinity as the culture) and another 1/2tsp (or whatever) of eggs. Then you will always have some ready. But after a while the culture can crash, so it is best to start a new one every few weeks. If you do the same thing in say, a 2 gal tank instead of a small bottle, you will get a mixture of diffrent size shrimp after about a week. I know that adult BS keep well in a fridge for about a week, but I am not sure about BBS. either way, it you are feeding them to get the maximum nutrition value you should feed BBS within... either 12 or 24hs of hatching...(anyone remember??), before they use up thier egg sac. If you just leave them in the bottle and don't top off the water or run an airstone or anything, after about 2 days some will start to die off and after that, you will just have less every day untill they all die off. let me know if any of that didn't make sense
