How long does salt last?

If it has never been opened what is the shelf life of salt? I have two 200 gal buckets of Kent salt that are about a yr old.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Might also be a good idea to make sure they are mixed well. I have heard that sometimes different parts will settle out.

We've had a bucket of IO for about 8 months now and it was still good as of a couple of weeks ago. Just check it first before you add it to your system.

Humidity will cause clumping - Chronic problem here in Florida. I went to natural seawater because its free and only a coupla blocks away.

I had to rub it in. Hi Brucey!

My friend is selling me her empty 110XH with stand for $200 - It may be easier to mix salt up to fill it but I have some great plans for this tank. I won't have it until May and I have some old salt which is why this thread is so interesting to me.
