Thinking about making a change

K I have a 12 gallon eclipse right now, it's acrylic and it's really starting to get scratched up. I am thinking about changing to a 20L, what do you people think. I'll then have a refugium(the eclipse) and what not.

Peace

EK

Go for it! A 12 gallon fuge on a 20L tank will be awesome. Are you going with glass this time?

Without a dobut. Acrylic is nice but it scratches way to easily. I'll probably make the change after the holidays. Means new lighting, not sure what I'll go with, maybe MH, but most likely just PC, since I want this to be a softie tank. Though a clam would be sweet.

It sounds like a fun challenge and a great little upgrade.

You should be able to find one cheap as well. so is a 12 gal fuge big enough to hold a pump? (Joking)

I had a blast tearing down my 5.5 and setting up the 7 bow. It's very satisfying planning, and doing a successful transplant and seeing your handywork after the dust settles (literally!).

You can still do a clam with pc, just get a dersa or squamosa. They aren't as light demanding as a Maxima or Crocea.
Good luck with your transplant.

I have a 20 gl tank that I also want to use it as a sps prop tank.I believe a single 175 mh and a pc actinic should be enought.
What type of filtration system you are going to use?

LR, LS, and my CPR BakPak IIR. And once I have the refugium set up probably going to use that Miracle Mud I've heard alot about. I try to stay away from mechanical filtration, it seems like only problems come out of it. I saw a 20L at PetSmart for $15 so that's the one I'm going to get.

I'd be interested in seeing your plumbing setup between tank and fuge when you have it planned.

I would love to do 60+ but that's a year or two off. I will always have pics for you guys and gals, I know you enjoy looking at them as much as I like taking them.

Edge,
Go as big as your budget will let you. Otherwise, you may find yourself in the same predicament in about a year. GO BIG! You won't regret it!

I would but I don't have room for anything bigger right now. That's why I say in a year cuz then hopefully I'll be in a bigger place I can call my own. I trust only one of my two roomates, the other throws fits when he doesn't get his way, and the fits usually lead to him destroying something of vaule that isn't his and I would hate to go to prison for murdering someone for destroying my tank. It's a trust issue, my room is locked, the rest of the house isn't. I wouldn't trust this guy if you gave me 1 billion dollars, it's just not worth it, and the sad part is I signed a lease and I can't get out of it for a year. LOL sometimes to get out of one bad situation you make another and don't realize it until it's too late.

That sounds like a lot of fun!

But...I have to ask...Did you get scared when you saw the pics of that melted eclipse? J/K I think that it was just some idiot person who couldn't DIY if their life depended on it...Like me .

LOL, How the hell did that happen? I am very respectful of electricity, more so of electricity around water. I don't think that'll happen but then again I never thought Michael Jackson would ever hold himself up in his private jet because he's afraid of gettin molested in prison.
