ZEOvit?!

Has anyone heard anything about ZEOvit? They make some big claims, just wanted to know if it really works. Thought about buying some if it really works as good as they promise. Any feedback would be great.

Sound like alot of work. Supplements are taboo for me. IMO, kalk & water changes take of whatever trace elements my animals need.

It is one method to get a low nutrient tank, which is vital IMO for SPS tanks. However there are other methods to do the same thing.
Having seen tanks myself on the zeo system I will admit that they looked great.
I'm just under the impression BB, high flow, wet skimming, removal of detrius before it breaks down, and GFO's (debatable) will get you to the same place.

I agree with you Mike, I've seen plenty of sps tanks with colors galore and no ZEOvit. I heard on RC someone refer to the zeo craze as for those that want colorful sps tanks and want to do it the easy way. I'm just quoting that...

My tank is as colorful as any zeo sps tank and I just feed the fish, check calcium and thats it.

Zeo is the hot thing right now. But like Sue and Mike have both said...you can get there without it. There is a thread on RC started by one of the users of Zeo. He works in a lab and wanted to test the bacteria in sample of Zeo that he was using on his tank. He found no bacteria in his sample of Zeo-bak. This started a HUGE controversy and alot of finger pointing and histrionics, and that involved some moderators of RC. Someone contacted Thomas Pohl who came up with Zeo-vit. Pohl promptly threatened to sue anyone who tested his products in a lab, and posted up the results. More fingerpointing and histrionics ensued. Thomas Pohl was contacted again and asked if he would allow someone to determine if there was bacteria, but not try and identify it. Pohl replied he'd be willing to allow a german lab to test his product with the understanding the lab wouldnt release any information about Zeo-Vit he deemed propriatary.
Yet more hysteria ensued and I got so bored with the thread and the name calling that I unsubscribed from it.

From what I have seen, those that use Zeo, are very passionate about it. those that refuse to put anything in their tanks without knowing exactly what is in the ingredients are just as passionate about their position against it.

Frankly, after hearing that Thomas Pohl was willing to sue anyone who tried to test his products just to determine if there was bacteria in them as the label claimed, sealed the deal against me every touching one of his products.
If its so great why all the secrecy?
If he's that concerned about loosing his livlihood from others "stealing" the Zeo secrets....why doesnt he jsut patent it?

I'm a police officer. Its my job to be suspicious, nosey, and ask alot of questions. The responses by the manufacturer on this make me uneasy. Its just one of those things that make ya go "Hmmmmmmmmmm??????"

I'm just to cheap to buy the system.
Berlin method is cheaper and effective enough for me. I can't believe I missed that thread.
