| Torch coral ![]() | Water change equipment... Is there something out there that you can put on a tube that "counts" the flow through the tube. Example... I want to empty 60gal out of my tank but don't want to empty it into rubbermaid bins, i want to stick the other end in the sink or wherever. I usually do 60gal water changes each month and am sick and tired of having all these rubbermaids everywhere. Or does anyone have any ideas? TIA

| Tunicate | The only way you could try to calculate it would be to maybe throw an mj1200 in the tank with tubing long enough to get to a sink. To find out how much/how long just calculate that the mj1200 pushes 295gph then divide by 60 for 4.91 gpm(minute) round to 5 minutes and you have roughly 12 minutes to push 60 gallons out. |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | You could do one more water change using the rubbermaids and mark the lowered tank water level once you have removed the 60 gal of water. Using a permanent marker or a piece of tape you can mark the water level on the outside of the tank out of sight somewhere.

| Torch coral ![]() | Thanks. Great ideas. Does anyone know where I can get a big plastic container pretty reasonably priced? Not a rubbermaid, but my LFS has these big 55 gal drums that they use to sell water in. I am trying to make this process a little less messy because I am putting down hardwood floors this weekend and I tend to spill a lot of water. I am thinking about setting up a RO/DI in my garage and fill the container, add salt when needed and just pump into the tank. Hopefully this will be a lot less messy. My RO/DI is under my sink and takes 5 days to fill two 30 gal bins, so I will be getting a better one. It came with the house filtration system.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | We got our 200 gallon tubs from a tractor supply in Greenville. It has flat sides for bulkheads also. I'm sure there is one in the Charlotte/Concord area. My local reef buddies got some used drums that are FDA approved from some Pickle place up in Canada. I think each drum holds 100 gallons and they got em for dirt cheap. I'll see if I can find out where they got them exactly. They are on the NCfrag list fwiw.

| Torch coral ![]() | Okay, like I said I want to put it out in the garage. I have my hot water tank and my house filtration out there. I know I would install it after the filtration, but to I need to maybe "T" it off or what. I am not a plumber. Also what would I need to make this happen. I have a system but I did not install it. What is a good system to get?
