| Plate Coral | Finned Out! I went to the lfs and saw their tangs all "finned out". They looked spectacular. Mine are finned out sometimes, but most of the time they arent. Does it mean anything when their fins are spread out like that? Are they happy? Water quality good? A result of adrenaline from fear of attack of another fish? Or does it mean nothing at all? Thanks all. Alan |

| Totally back ![]() | I think that generally means they are stressed out. Either due to water quality, noise, other fish, etc. Hard to pinpoint, but generally tangs don't swim around all day with their fins extended all the way out. Mike

| Reef Painter | Usually when a fish's fins are spread out they are more than likely stressed. They could be stressed by bad water quality, unfamiliar surroundings, other fish, etc. Perhaps the LFS added the tangs just a few days ago and they have yet to acclimate to the new conditions. |
