| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Bubble Corals I have a recent addition of a bubble coral (Plerogyra lichtensteini) that really looks more like a 'nipple coral' ... LOL! I have it placed it high in my tank...maybe the lighting is too strong?? Maybe I should move it to the bottom? I keep waiting for it to expand but it hasn't yet What does yours look like? Where do you have it placed in the tank;high or low? What type of lighting do you have?

| Totally back ![]() | I always recomend these corals be introduced into lower lighting first and moderate current. They can adpt very well to higher current, but do seem to object to high flow conditions where they may not fully "inflate." These corals can survive in quite low light conditions and are typically found in the wild in either shallow turbid water or on vetical faces under lower light conditions. Since typically any bubble coral you find in a store will be a wild collected specimen, I would suggest starting near the bottom of the aquarium, and deciding from there after a few weeks if you want to move it up in the tank to a location where you may like how it looks better. I personally love the way they look near the bottom of the aquarium, and how they fill that often times ugly gap at the bottom of most people aquascaping that is laking any coral life at all. It transitions the rock work to substrate very well. Mike

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | This is my bubble coral. Its not the pearl kind but I dont care. Its cool! Ive had it for some time now, about one year and it wasn't doing well up top near the lighting. Since I rescaped my tank I put it in the sand and it looks real happy now It has long feelers so I keep it far away from the other corals. I run two 175w Mh's and two 10,000k coralife floresents. It seems to like the diy moonlights I made too. Well, I hope you all like it ![]() Last edited by Frankie : 01-09-2007 at 12:13 AM. |

| Smilie Bartender ![]() | Here's my bubble: And here's where it's located: I bought it out of the "scratch n dent" bin at the LFS for $15 over a year ago. Since then, occasional feedings and just leaving it alone have helped it along very well. There are actually three colonies on the same piece of skeleton. I guess they split when it was receding? |
