$4.30 Damsel

Ordered a Blue Devil Fiji Damsel (Chrysiptera taupou) from my LFS. What came in is what looks like a cross between a Blue Devil Fiji and an Azure Damsel.

The sold it to me at their cost as it wasn't the right one. Will try to get a picture of my frugal purchase tomorrow!

Will let you know. Kind of a cute little bugger, went in the tank with lights out. We'll see if it survived the Blue Damsel that is the current resident. Both are in my 29 gallon.

It is my 29 gallon mini-bad boy tank. All inhabitants under 2".

The new addition is cowering behind the powerhead and so no shot available. Will see id I can get a shot during dinner time. Will add a true Blue Devil Fiji Damsel when it gets in and three will be better at getting along than two.

I have a fiji devil in my sons 26 with a bi color blenny and pink spot goby. I love the way the devil swims around with the "this is my tank attitude"

I think the Blue Devil Fiji Damsel is one of the coolest looking damsels!

Oi!

I have now what can only be described as an EVIL tank. My 3 bluegreen chromis had ganged up on my: Powder blue tang; Comet; Lamarcks angle; and others. No matter what I put in the tank they killed with in days, so after my self made crash [my stupidity about bills, not tank related but a crash nun the less] I have bought only Evil fish that my LFS would have problems selling [and usually fish not ordered but came in the shipment anyway]

3 Blue green chromis
1 Yellowtail blue damselfish
1 Fiji blue devil
1 Javanese damselfish
1 Threespot dascyllus
1 Australian dottyback
2 Lawnmower blennys
I had 2 signal gobies, but they are now missing.
1 Yellow shrimp goby

The blennies and goby sometimes get 'nipped' but the rest have fun chasing around the tank. Thing is now all I can put in the tank are Evil fish, but what the heck some one has to buy them, HA!

My $4.30 damsel is surviving and eating. It will venture out of the corner from behind the powerhead, but when I walk by, the Blue damsel gets jealous and chases him into the corner.

As time goes on I'm sure they will get along better, especially when I get the Blue Fiji as it will keep the Blue to busy to chase them both.

Love the bad boy list in your tank nigle!

Craig,
do you have three fiji blue devil damsels in your tank or is it one of each? I just ordered some fiji blue devils at my store. I think I got two males and a female (just going by what I read in Scott Michaels guide) You think a male and female might do ok in a 40? I'm getting tired of not having any fish in my tank, it's only been 10 months without a fish...

Mike,

I have a light Blue Damsel with a black dot near the base of its dorsal fin. The other Damsel is deeper blue with yellow accents on its underbelly. Am waiting for a true Blue Devil Fiji damsel to add to my 20 long.

Here is a picture of "Pluto" a blue damsel I have had for over 5 years...a very well behaved fish!

Will be looking for them. I had never revieved true fiji blue devils before, and never considered adding damsels to the tank before, but these bad boys look awesome. One of the few fish that I have received that look better in person than in the ID books.
I may try adding what appears to be a male and female to my tank if they aren't sold by the weekend.
