| Reef Lobster ![]() | Personally, I think the Euro-reefs are the cream of the crop, well, for the $400-500 range. However, have you considered the ASMs? They are Euroreef knock offs that use the same Sedra pump, just different construction material (I think it is a lower-grade acrylic). I know people that are very happy with their ASMs and savings are generally about 50%... Take er easy SCott T.

| Reef Shark ![]() | I can agree with both of those, but if you have a bit more coin to spend, the H & S recirculating skimmers are VERY effecient. The LFS in my area that sells them has a H&S set upo next to a"same size" Euro-Reef, and it kicks the E/R's butt, by about 3 to 1 in skimmate production, and uses LESS electricity! Very nice skimmers, just a little bit more spendy. http://www.tpaquarium.com/products/category.php?CA=2 These sell very well, so he has a hard time keeping them in stock, but he also has problems maintaining his website to current stock levels. That problem is supposed to be getting fixed in the near future. You have to call or e-mail for availability

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | I have comapred both ASM and euroreef. I personally use a EuroReef that I purchased used for pretty cheap. There is a noticable difference in build construction between the two brands. The euroreef seems much sturdier in contruction than the ASM, however, they both perform virtually identical. IMO with both thse skimmer you are really paying for the needlewheel pump, because to tell the truth, I'm not really all the impressed with what you get from euroreef for what you pay. You get an acrylic tube with two pipes connected to it and a union valve to remove the skimmer cup. Pretty friggin simple. Compared to something like an MRC, a euroreef seems pretty cheap in quality (just my opinion). Of course with any beckett style skimmer you have to purchase a good pressure rated pump, so they do end up costing more most of the time.BTW, you may want to check out geosreef skimmers, virtually identical to euroreef, but I would suspect much better construction... | They misunderestimated me ![]() | I did something similar with a rio 2100 pump, worked ok, but my fab skills are horrible. It really wouldn't take much to make an effective equivelent if you take your time and have the tools. Wish I could get the red dragon pump to push my euroreef though... Mike
