Qt

Hey,

I know quarentine tanks have been beaten to death but i have sort of a weird setup that I need some help with.

heres the story

I am upgrading to a used 90 I bought in a month or three. Before I switch i am treating my 65 for red bugs. So I need to setup a new tank for my shrimp and crabs so they won't kick the bucket during the treatment. I also want to use this tank later as a qt for some new fish that I will add to the 90 when it is up and running.

I am pretty sure that any fish I am going to get is going to have ick and I would want to use hypo salinity on the tank. If I cycled this new tank (my 33long that has been lanquishing in the garage) with lr can I keep the lr in the tank during the hyposalinity? or is it going to die off and cause an ammonia spike? Should I buy some sort of filter and pull the lr when doing hypo? I would obviously be done with the red bug treatment and have put the shimps and crabs back in the main tank and sump respectively.

Thanks

Tom

I guess I could set it up with LR first then pull it and run a sponge filter. Does this make sense to everyone? Seems easy enough
