| Fire Coral | Well I just got my power turned on. What a mess. My tank is not happy. South Florida in the middle of summer is a HOT place. Any suggestions on how long I should run my lights tomorow? (water is 87F tonight). I have been doing water changes every other day and had a generator running an air stone but the lack of light and high temps have taken their toll. Most of my snails have died and the corals do not look good. I guess I am just lucky to have a roof over my head. Sam |

| Reef Lobster | Sam so sorry to hear you had to go through all the challenges posed by Charlie. Do you have a Chiller? How long do you normally run your lights on and if you have chiller what do you keep the chiller set at? Now that you have the electricity back on if you dont own a Chiller set a couple of large fans to blow at the sump and at the top of the tank to lower the temperature. Slow down on water changes, unless you had dead animals that you could not retrieve for some reason and you feel that you need to keep upgrading the conditions of your water. The obvious, pull out all the dead(hope not to many:-( Sam I dont know exactly where Cape Coral is located, but if it is not to far and I can be of help with a few frags in late October, I would be glad to help you get back up and running this way. | Fire Coral | Playa, Thanks. I am about 10 min. south of punta gorda/port charlotte. I do not have a chiller but I am running fans now. I usually run my halide for 9 hours and pc for 11 hours. I was only doing a 2% water change every other day. I got all the dead snails out but figured there are some I cant see. Ammonia levels never raised. I am just waiting to see if i get any coral die off. Thanks again for the tips. Sam |
