Glenn,

All crustaceans are very vulnerable after the molt. How big are your hermits/emerald crabs? Do you have unidentified clicking noises? Bummer dude!

The hermits maybe a 1/2" all blue leg and 2 zebra, the emerald
1" 1/2, my wife said she heard some poping noises a couple of weeks back. would the mantis feed on something else till it got big enough, 'cause ive had the emerald and snails in there for while, ive never found any broken shells. Thanks Craig

A hungry Mantis would probably have already made it's presence known. The Hermits sound too small, but the Emerald Crab could have attacked the shrimp in it's vulnerable state. Could there be an unidentified Pistol Shrimp, they make a clicking/popping noise as well?

Why not a pair of cleaners? They will produce larva and feed your tank for free!

I say it's worth a chance once the Emerald is gone!
