| Torch coral | New to me Sump. Alright after allot of debating, Man issues where money.. We decided that i could not afford at this time to have the sump i wanted made!.. So with the help of ORG we came to this decision and decided to just use a OLD sump they had and convert it to my Needs .. And save my money and buy what i want when i can afford it.. Not just a band aid solution and buy what they had in stock that i really did not want! So here we go!! its a 36 inch long 30 gallon sump. I have this divided as such.. Starting from left to right chamber 1 : Pump intake chamber for returning to my system chamber 2 : Egg-crate box holding my Cheto with a 15 watt light above chamber 3 : Bio Filtration, I have a layer of Bio-balls covered with a layer of Floss ( I do replace this every other day) the bio-balls are 90% submerged.. The floss is preventing the Crap and food from getting stuck in the bio-balls causing the nitrates. Also used to run my drains from my system and my Protein skimmer through to break up the bubbles.. preventing bubbles from going back into the main system Chamber 4 : My skimmer MTC 4600 pro.. Chamber 5 : The underneath.. Chambers 3-4 are elevated 4 inches above the bottom of the sump, Making a chamber underneath these holding my Heaters. It seems to be working fine for me! It is a weebit messy.. but once i get things all cleaned up and organized i will post some better pictures ![]() Thanks Michael. |
