Talking Lets try this again.....

Ive had this fish for about 3 weeks....gorgeous fish.

Anyway the fish seemed fine to me and has a tremendous appetite.

ABout a week or so ago I noticed that its swimming looked a little funny....I thought maybe it was just howthe species swims and since his appetite was healthy I didnt think anything was wrong. It was swimming almost like it had no control on the back half of its body - almost like its paralyzed. Sometimes it would swim upside down like it was doing a headstand.

But the last two days I noticed that when he buries himself in the sand he isnt totally submereged....I can see a little bit of his tail - before I could never find the fish anywhere.

On top of this now he now has noticeable difficulty swimming and the back of its tail looks like its either rotting or perhaps has been nipped - Im not sure....he sometimes lies on his side too.

But I just fed the fish and this wrasse is still eating which I would think is a good sign. The hippo tang, sensing weakness has tried to nip him a few times.

ANyone know what this is? Is there any hope for this fish? It seems he has gotten significantly worse within a 24 hour period....any chance he will pull through? Any treatment I can give it?

Thanks!

AJ

If you have a QT tank you can try to get it out and put in the QT tank for a while. I am by no means a Wrasse expert but it sounds to me like you may have a Dragon Wrasse? I have seem them display some very weird behavior in tanks before similar to what you said about them swimming. If it is some type of Fin Rot I think they sell dips for that. Other then that with out a QT tank you have to just keep feeding it and hope for the best.

I think its a swim bladder problem....I dont think his back fins are rotting...his is being nipped a lot now by the hippo tang.

Can he recover? Also one eye got slightly cloudy.

The poor thing is stressed out.
