| Reefing for Jesus ![]() | How close is to close for your lighting to be to your corals. My lights sit directly on the tank (2x4 seperates the fixture from the glass). I think this may be causeing some issues for my corals. Some of my corals are hurting and they haven't gotten better. I intially thought my paramters were off but all test are zero excpet for SG 1.026 and PH 8.2, Calc is 400 (I know it's low) and Alk is 11 DKH. Which all fall under normal parameters. So again how low is to low. P.S. all of the trouble corals are SPS but there are some that are doing well.

| Elegance coral | Re: How close is to close The 150W MH in my 125 sit really close to the water. Don't know exactly how close, but they are in a canopy. Maybe like 3-4" above the water. No glass in-between. All of my sps do great though. I doubt it's your lighting being too strong unless your corals aren't used to it. What kind of lighting do you have?

| Reefing for Jesus ![]() | Re: How close is to close Ok I'm figuring that it may be my Calc/Alk levels. Calc is 400 and rising Alk is 11. I am currently dozing a two part using more calcium than alkalinty to achieve balance. I will keep you all posted. |

| Elegance coral | Re: How close is to close Hope you figure it out! Have you had the corals for long? Are they wild SPS or cultured?

| Reefing for Jesus ![]() | Re: How close is to close I've had two of them for almost 2 years and they are all aqua cultured from fragglereef. My Alk is not dangerously high but maybe combined with the low Calc that's the cause or it could be this little snail that I saw tonight but he got away when I tried to capture him. |
