Help Skimmer plans have changed

Ok my sumps skimmer compartment only measures 13x18 so I can't get the Octopus skimmer I wanted. I know I have a varied selection of cone skimmers that will fit (along with ASM's), but does anyone have any recommendations on a quality skimmer that will fit this footprint?

P.S. the Reef Octopus Extreme 300 has a foot print of 13x17.

The Warner Marine has a smaller foot print ans is well built.

I've been thinking of the K2 or the Royal Exclusiv Aquacone.

Ah, well if you can shell out the $ then the RE cone would be my choice along with the KZ line. Aquarium Specialty

I really hate the idea of paying that much but if the plans must change then I'll just the extra couple hundred bucks and get the K2. I wanted to stay in the $400 to $500 price range to be honest.

What about the MSX brand of skimmer any thoughts on that.

I like the way the K2 is built. Call Scott the owner of that site to the link I provided and ask him what he thinks of it. He is pretty knowledgeable and honest. I deal with him a lot. Personally I cannot say I have seen it run though. I am just going off the visual.

The MSX200 is the one you would want but the foot print looks to large for you. I like it. You put a quality needle wheel pump on that baby and it will perform well

I thought the 200's foot print was 11x13? that would fit me sump.

Foot print is 11.5x13.5 Yes you could fit that.

What about a Vertex? have you considered them? I have heard nothing but good things.

I know there are a bunch of good reviews on here, I would have to search for them, but I bet if you do a quick one you can find some good info. From what I have heard they are one of the best you can get for the money and are right up there with Reef Octopus as far as skimming power. Plus they have a bubble plate and a tapered neck like the more expensive skimmers. I'm sure someone with a bit more info on them will chime in. I would definately look into them though since the Octopus wont fit.
