| Midas Blenny | Thinking of starting a 50 gallon reef... i am thinking of starting a 50 gallon aquariam and i have a few question: Which brand is best for the tank and were can i order one? I will most likely have some filtration, lighting, etc. questions but im starting here thank you for the help ![]() |

| Neon dottyback | Re: Thinking of starting a 50 gallon reef... You will probably find your best bet at a LFS, that way your not paying for shipping. Try to find one Reef Ready (overflow already built in). As for a specific brand I couldn't help you.

| Limpet | Re: Thinking of starting a 50 gallon reef... Do your homework and make sure you have enough money set aside to do this right. It is *NOT* cheap. Without sitting down and calculating, I'd say it's not tough to be around $3k in setting up a 50 gallon reef tank. Is it possible for less? Probably. More? Easily. Just trying to demonstrate that it's not something you can do with a couple hundred bucks. Drilled/overflows = a must IMHO Filtration? Liverock will do a fine job, or you can go mechanical if you are meticulous about maintenance (I do and I am) Skimmer = a must IMHO And then add a lot of TIME... The tanks you see here are not tanks you get overnight. They are tanks you get over YEARS.
