| Sea Pen | LR sitting on sand I've posted before that my 75g was set up in my house before it became "mine", and I knew nothing about reef tanks. I am getting very nervous about the fact that the LR is scaped and set up on top of about 2 and a half inches of sand, it's only the base pieces that are pushed down into sand a bit. I've seen disasters when rock falls and breaks a tank. If I was to redo it, what's the best way; possibly taking it all out and securing with glue, supports and whatnot, or somehow pushing bases into sand more, which brings up the risk of pockets in SB, tank has been established for over three years now. And will I need to remove my fish, I only have three. Thanks for info and/or links to threads here if you know of them! Ann Marie

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: LR sitting on sand Ideally you have the base rocks either on eggcrate on the bottom of the tank or straight on the bottom. If it is stable now, I would likely leave it. If you are going to change it, I would do it slowly or find a temporary home for the fish and do it all at once. Ideally the 2nd. Some people connect their rocks with acrylic dowels. Personally I carefully stack mine. It can be a challenge but it just takes a lot of testing.

| Sea Pen | Re: LR sitting on sand Good info Lynn, I've been checking and rechecking it, the "grid work" has pieces that fit like a puzzle, my son arranged it and he told me his main goal was stability. Thanks again
