| Bryozoan | Crazy loud noise coming from tank! Hello All: I just setup a 90g tank with the corner overflow box. I just fill it up for a freshwater test and the noise coming from the overflow box is unbelievably loud and annoying!!!! How can I reduce the noise? Also, there is a pre-drilled siphon break whole on the 90d arm of the return line. There is more water coming out of that whole than the lockline! Could this be part of my noise problem? Thanks |

| Sea Pen | Re: Crazy loud noise coming from tank! Hi, It seems I have same tank as you but 75g version. Ive found overflow is quite noisy but main problem is as you mentioned, that siphon break hole. I took a piece of sponge from a cheap filter cardige and attached to elbow. These reduce noice a lot and air is able to break siphon when my main pump is off. I you want a picture a can post it. Greetings |

| Neon dottyback | Re: Crazy loud noise coming from tank! I use Durso standpipes to keep my overflows silent. They work very well, and they're really easy to make yourself. Here's Durso's website. I have no experience with them, but I've heard that Stockman standpipes work well too, and they have a little more compact form. |
