| Fire Coral | Re: New Tank!!! its gonna have to be glass because me and acrylic dont mix well haha and ive seen the plans for the plywood tanks and they are AWESOME! needless to say i probably wouldnt have the patience to build a tank like that! Ive never seen a 48" shallow tank and dont know what the outcome is gonna be. although, on another site they are trying to steer me clear of building my own AND making it that shallow? why would they? |

| Fire Coral | Re: New Tank!!! the reason im gonna ditch my tank is because it was a learning tank. Ive learned how to keep the saltwater parameters for a while and now im gonna get what i really wanted to do. There are MANY mistakes i make with this tank and with my new one i plan on doing everything right this time. |

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: New Tank!!! Love the idea of building a tank. Not sure about the dimensions. 12" front to back is very narrow, and is difficult to aquascape. 12" deep is pretty shallow. Personally, if I were going to build a tank, I'd go somewhat shallow, probably 16", but would do at least 24" front to back. I think that "depth: is what lends the "real" reef feel to a tank. JMO, of course. Best of luck!!
