my marroons are bugging me

heres my problem
i have a mated pair if tank raised marroons,
the female keeps stirring up the sand.
ive put rock where she does this.
i know this is natural.but is there a way i can stop this from happening.
the pair took home to a candycane that was in centre of tank, she does it directly infront of candycane, ive moved candycane to one side but shes still doing it in centre of tank.

I wish I could be helpful but both my maroon and my clarkii do the same thing. The Clarkii are always cloging the filter with her sand piles.

Nope, not a thing you can do; she is just preparing her nest. Very common in clowns, sort of goes with the territory

Re: my marroons are bugging me

This activity is associated with reproduction, and she is all grown up now is all. That's why she did not do it before

If you want her to spawn, she will need a stable environment, which means no changes. If you don't care about spawning, removing the substrate may work

My female Clarki does this all the time, but has yet to lay any eggs.

Re: my marroons are bugging me

Yeah, it does not mean they will spawn. Clowns are much, much more likely to spawn with no one else in the tank. Often they develop and reabsorb eggs. They need to feel absolutely stress free and secure to spawn

omg stress free
she stresses me out ,lol
i think buy moving the candycane into the corner and off the sand is working.
i think shes maybe gonna be happier with her little corner.
there a good pair of marroons and dont seem to bother with other fish checking out there territory

Re: my marroons are bugging me

Sounds like your good to go. My perc female just defended her nem from a snail that wandered too close. They are so entertaining
