| Torch coral | Catalina Aquarium 48" 4x54w T5 Question I came home today after work to find my Catalina 48" 4x54w T5 fixture on the front porch. I opened up the box for a quick visual inspection to find three of the four bulbs broken... no big deal though, it happens... I called Catalina promptly and had excellent extremely courteous response and was given a tracking number for the new bulbs that will be shipped out Monday. Now, after dinner (just for the heck of it, and after hours =( I decided to plug the fixture in and see how much light one bulb would put out. I plugged both plugs in and flipped both of the switches to each setting. No light. So, here I am... wondering if a) the one light that is visually good, is physically not b) the fixture needs more lights plugged in to work or c) my fixture was damaged/defective during shipping My question is... does the fixture needs to have all lights plugged in to come on, or am i more than likely in either situation A or C? Thanks!

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Catalina Aquarium 48" 4x54w T5 Question Some ballasts can operate with one bulb and some need both to complete the circuit. Once the bulbs are replaced I think you'll LOVE that fixture! I just got the 24" 2bulb version for my Frag tank and it freaking ROCKS!! ![]()
__________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!
