| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: where did all the bugs go? How long ago did you add the blenny? He ate some I'm sure, but maybe the rest went into hiding? Have you tested your system lately? Could there have been an apocalypse?

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: where did all the bugs go? Seems unlikely/impossible that the scooter blenny alone ate all the pods. The flow may have moved them off the glass and into the sand and liverock.

| Madame Klanganator ![]() | Re: where did all the bugs go? Scooter blennies are like mandarin dragonets. They eat ALL the time. Maybe he's diminished the population significantly. Might be time to add some more.

| Scopas Tang | Re: where did all the bugs go? I had the tank set up for around 2 months.I started with 90 pounds of live cured rock so I was cycled around 2 weeks. There were alot of bugs everywhere. From very large to ones that you can barely see. Late last night I used my flash light and did see a few on the rocks but I did have several hundred. |

| Fire Coral | Re: where did all the bugs go? I recently had the similiar situation but without the scooter. I have a 55G that was swarming and only have 2 ocelarias and 1 clown goby, not really pod eaters persay but had a huge decrease in population. I too thought they were all gone and something was wrong. Water tested fine. Someone in another thread suggested looking with a flashlight at night, so I did. I actually used a red LED light on the end of an electric screw driver and saw a ton coming in and out of the rock. Most were in and out of one with some chaeto shoved in a hole. some of them were huge and some were very tiny. So I would think they are there, prob diminished some from addition of scooter, but there in hiding.... |

| Fire Coral | Re: where did all the bugs go? Here's a good link on pods and fish that eat them. I believe somewhere in there it also states that as they mature with the tank they will hid more. Saltwater Copepods & Amphipods Information |

| Midas Blenny | Re: where did all the bugs go? I have a mandarin, and haven't seen a huge decrease in pod population. Of course, he does have his hunting grounds and I have seen a lot less in the areas he hangs out in, but overall I still see quite a few. I doubt a single blenny made that much of an impact.
