Re: a true hitchicker...

Looks like a pretty feather duster to me. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: a true hitchicker...

The feather duster worm grows its own tube.

Did not notice it was on the snail, do not worry about it, the snail can take care of himself. The worm might even like it since he is being moved to where the food is by the snail.

Re: a true hitchicker...

I really don't know. The feather dusters in my tank seem to come and go. I am sure it depends on the available nutrients. I've never had one such a pretty orange so I certainly see why you would like to keep it.

this guys been on this snails back since day one I bought this batch of snails in Dec and saw the duster then but it was tiny you had to look real close to even see it now it can be seen from across the room its probably about the size of a dime I would really like to keep the duster but it may end up killing the snail if it keeps growing at this rate. I have heard of this before some where the snail finally couldn't move around and died. guess I'll wait and see what happens..Thanks

Re: a true hitchicker...

I agree. I wouldn't try to separate them. I doubt the duster would make it.
I would buy that snail just for the HH if I saw it in the store.
