Re: silicone for aquaria

PetCo stores also carry a 100%, aquarium safe silicone sealant. But shop around, get yourself the best buy.

Re: silicone for aquaria

Just be sure to get something that says it is safe for aquarium use. Most if not all silicones sold at Home Depot or Lowes are not safe for use. Read the labels or go to the manufacturer's website & get the product information sheet.

Re: silicone for aquaria

GE silicone #2, not GE silicone #1 is also safe.

Re: silicone for aquaria

For the record, I used GE silicone #2 for my reef's new sump baffles and almost killed all the corals. There is an additive in it for mold/mildew that comes 'standard' now in most caulks.
It is not worth saving a few dollars... use ONLY a silicone that states "for Aquarium use".
I will only use the DAP Aquarium silicone. Home Depot and Lowes hardware carry it.

Re: silicone for aquaria

I worded that wrong GE 1 is NOT safe, 2 is suppose to half no mildisides in it, but I only use Dapp for aquariums.
