flow through sump

So I did a water change this weekend stirred up the sand a bit and cleaned my filters. After the water change the flow in my sump slowed down drastically. Any ideas?

Re: flow through sump

Anything get stuck in the return pump, that would cause the pump to slow down which would hurt the flow rate of the overflow.

Re: flow through sump

Yeah I agree. I found a HUGE snail shell inside my Return Pump one time. I had to take the front cover off to get it out.

Good luck

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: flow through sump

You may want to completely remove the pump and take it apart to make sure there isn't something wrong inside. Also you may want to back-flush or figure some way to blockage check the return line itself.
