| Tubeworm | Re: Hery guys just a few questions You will either need to use live rock or a combination of base rock and live rock to get the cycle going and to complete it. Your local fish store will have live rock or you can buy online and ask people in your area who are breaking their tank down. You will need about 25-35 pounds of rock for proper filtration. Are you using a refractormeter by chance? Also you will need to take quite a bit of the water out of the tank when you put the rock in otherwise it will overflow. Also it seems from the shadow that the tank is hanging over the ledge of the stand, is it? |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Hery guys just a few questions Well, looks like you have gone through step A which is getting water in the tank. Next you need to add LR and a deli shrimp to kick off the cycle. The cycle can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month or more. It all depends on the LR you use and how much de nitrifying bacteria is already there to get started. Meanwhile you get to learn one of the most important things about reefing which is patience. Get your LR and start reading and waiting.
