| Star Polyps ![]() | Main Pump Out MY MAIN PUMP ON MY 125 HAS GONE OUT AFTER 6 YEARS OF GREAT SERVICE. MY QUESTION IS DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REPLACE IT FOR A FEW DAYS. I DO HAVE THREE POWER HEADS MOVING WATER WITHIN THE TANK APX 300 GPH EACH. BUT I HAVE NO SUMP, TRICKLE FILTRATION, AND SKIMMER ACTIVITY . CAN I GET AWAY WITH THE TIME THE SYSTEM WILL BE DOWN ??????????? |

| Reef Lobster | LOL. It looks like your keyboard is broken too... needs a new 'caps lock' key... ![]() The only thing I would be worried about is oxygenation... the skimmer and drain from the tank are two of the prime sources of oxygenation to the system, aside from surface exchange... but if you position one of your powerheads so that it churns up the water surface to minimize the oily film buildup it should help considerably. Other than that, I don't foresee any problem by leaving it for a couple days... unless your trickle filtration was a big part of the filtration system... cutting out that many nitrifying bacteria in your tank could cause some problems... you'll probably also need to keep water circulating through that filter so that the bacteria don't die off in the interim downtime. HTH.

| Reef Shark ![]() | Agree...You'll probably lose all the bacteria in the trickle filter, and so might notice a spikein ammonia/nitrite over the next couple of days. Most likely when you start the system back up as well. Hopefully there's a heater in the main tank instead of just in the sump...Get some surface aggitation going and you should be o.k. for a few days...
