calcium emergency!!!!

I posted last week about a sick frogspawn. Well, I think I figured out the problem.. I had not been checking or dosing for calcium. I just recently acquired this tank and frogspawn. I had an euphillia in my old tank who never had a problem with whatever calcium levels occured "naturally" in the tank and still doesn't have a problem with the low calcium levels now..... BUT thats not the point.. the point is my calcium level is at 260 which is WAY too low. I am dosing according to the bottle but that is only raising it at most 20 parts per day.. Can I dose more??? I really need to raise this up but I don't know if it will be a problem to increase it that rapidly..

No raise it slowly as to not cause problems.

Also check your Newly Mixed Salt Water because most salt mixes are right on spot for Calcium.

why kind of problems would that cause? I heard that my Mg needs to be at a certain level in order to even raise calcium.. is this true?

also, so if my newly mixed water (I use tropic marin) is at the right Ca level, should I just do a large water change?

yes, you need to test mag in order to properly raise calcium - or at least understand why its low.

I never recommend larger than 20% WC unless something toxic has happened.

Robert is correct. A large water change with "higher" Calc (and who knows what else is out of whack) could indeed SHOCK your system. go slow and test everything! Also double check your test results with another test kit or another test method (LFS).
