| Tunicate | creatures in filter Hello! I've had my small (26 gal) reef tank set up for about 7 months now, and I'm loving it! Today, I was cleaning out my canister filter, and came to find hundreds of little "rice-like" bodies growing all over the inside of the filter. They're not in my tank itself. They're attached at one end to the walls and my bio-media; possibly tunicates? They're just white, most of them the size of a grain of rice, some a bit bigger. Any ideas? Thanks! |

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!! | Tunicate | Re: creatures in filter That is wild, I was just going to post a question about the same exact thing. They're only in my corner overflows, and down in my sump, just covering things. Nothing in the main tank though, and they look exactly like your picture, with varying sizes from longer and skinnier to short and fat like that one. ![]() |

| Golden Moray | Re: creatures in filter yup.. cut some filter sponge lay it in your fuge tank and blast the tank with tons of light. The pods will migrate into the sponge material for safety. Or you can just leave the sponge material in there permanantly Best to cut it in small squares so you can just pull one out and shake it in the tank and watch your fish go nuts!
