Taking advantage

of the low low sick low prices at the LFS. Most things seem to be selling for what was wholesale a few months ago. Kind of like the housing market, nows the time to buy.
I may not be able to unload my corals for much but at the prices I am paying for corals right now I honestly don't care. I do see a positive , people maybe more likely to gift or trade corals now.

got this tort for $25. Can't believe how big and bushy it is!

This was $20.. its just plain sick!

got this entire colony for $15!!! It has some type of glove polyp on it and if you look in the bottom left it has a micro zoo. Have no idea what type yet though.

got this ricordea rock for $50

Re: Taking advantage

I guess my LFS didnt get the memo. The prices are even higher, and the corals dont look as good. Hardly any SPS either. Its probably a Florida thing.

Re: Taking advantage

My LFS seems to be going higher and higher...I refuse to shop their not only for their prices but because of their service and health of their tanks as well...

Re: Taking advantage

Nice find Jay. My LFS haven't got the memo yet either. That Acro for 25 was a steal and that purple encrusting Monte is one of my favorites!

Re: Taking advantage

one of the local lfs are selling corals for uber cheap out here too, but only ONE of them and i goto atleast 5 places within 20 miles of each other.

i got this mushroom rock for $20 and this picture does NOT do justice. These are awesome shrooms and were cheap. Also the zoo rock i got for $25 and that is a 1/3 of the whole rock i have the other 2/3 in my 125. and they had 4 diff. colored zoos and a mushroom freebie attached! i left with a smile,

Re: Taking advantage

Some LFS's might be working off old stock or buying local frags. The one LFS I hit last week has always been the most expensive place to buy corals for the last 18 years anyway. When there prices came down I had to pinch myself. They are buying from California.
The SPS came from another LFS who is middle of the road on prices usually. They buy from Miami.
I talked to both of them in depth to find out what the wholesale market is like. Both said they are getting corals uber cheap. Nice thing not only are they super cheap but they are both getting some of the nicest corals I've seen locally ever.

Re: Taking advantage

i know for a fact this isnt old stock...he was ALWAYS the most expensive LFS around and i never went because of that. then i got an email with his price list which is just crazy. he sells coco worms for $24 and i have NEVER seen them under $50 here in chicago. Also sells shrimps $10 less tahn anyone and his corals are just to cheap. I dont get it and everyone i talk to is wondering the same?!?!
