Will it be too heavy?

Hi everyone!!! I just got a 110 gallon Tank, Stand, Canopy, etc. for free! A wonderful person from another forum decided to give away her tank and through a strand of luck, I was one of the first people to reply to her ad. Yippee...
Now the question comes in. Will it be too heavy for my floors? I never ventured into a bigger tank, so I don't know much about weight issues when it comes to the tank. How will I know if it will be too heavy once its set up. I live in the first floor of a new home (hardwood floors), under where the tank would be set up would be the garage. Im scared that once I fill up the tank and sump, the horrible will occur!!! Anyone with a big set up have it on a upper level floor?
All advice and opinions are welcome! TY TY TY in advance.

Re: Will it be too heavy?

with a 110g the length of the tank would dispurse the weight over multipule floor joices and should be fine with the ditribution of the weight.

Thats an odd length, custom built fore sure. In the corner of two outside walls will be the be the strongest place to put it.

The tank going through the floor is more of a myth. More of a paranoia than a real fear. The floor may bow and the drywall may crack but a collapse requires extrema conditions.

Re: Will it be too heavy?

I had a king sized water bed on the second floor of my house when I was a teenager, on an inside wall! You should have no problems.

Probably only if you want a broken couch, im assuming the couch will go before the floor

Yeah, its a custom made tank.

Yep the fear lurks in me about it going through the floor. Last thing I need!

Re: Will it be too heavy?

I think you will be alright, there is little chance of that happening. There are much larger tanks than this around on floors which are probably similar, you should be good!

Re: Will it be too heavy?

Just a thought, but does the stand have 4 legs or is it more of a cabinet design that helps dispurse the weight. Don't know if they even make stands for tanks that big with legs, but had to ask.

There is a thread on here somewhere by a floor guy about identifying weak floors by the beam spacing and how to help shore them up.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
