online ordering??

Has anyone ever ordered livestock online? What sites would you recommend for healthy fish that are good priced and shipping costs that aren't through the roof?

Re: online ordering??

If you live close to Pacific East Aquaculture or Mr. Coral, their shipping is very cheap, the latter being free. Any of our sponsors are pretty good retailers.

Re: online ordering??

Alot of us have ordered from the net, i ordered from bluezooaquatics.com recently and would do it again without batting an eye, wonderful experience. However, you are going to pay a TON for shipping no matter where you are buying from, its just the nature of the beast these days.

Re: online ordering??

Welcome Skipper! Happy to have you aboard! I have had positive experiences ordering from on line vendors. The important thing about this type of buying is ordering from reputable vendors that have a history of good sales, excellent customer service and quality livestock.

One important aspect of buying from any on line vendor is their "Arrive Alive" guarantee. The reputable companies and those that recognize the importance of selling a good product will offer a guarantee that their livestock will arrive alive and in good condition. Some will even go further by offering a "Stay Alive" guarantee for a short time after arrival.

The best way to get information about which companies are best is by searching our "Vendors Experience" forum as well as asking around in these forums.

All the best!

Re: online ordering??

Thanks!! I will check out these sites...

I have a 70g with 3 clowns and a wheeler goby. Today at my LFS I saw a Midas Blenny and just fell in love. However they wanted $80 for him. This may be reasonable for this particular fish but I'm just not ready to pay this price for any fish. I thought I might be able to find one a little cheaper online..
Has anyone ever had a Midas Blenny? What did you think of the fish? I loved the way he swam..
Maybe any other cheaper stocking ideas? I want a fish with some personality..

Re: online ordering??

Midas blennies are great fish with their beautiful "chromographic" coloration and gregarious nature. They spend most of their time hovering in the water column near their protective home in the rock. They can also be seen poking their head out of their hidey hole with curiosity on their face.

These fish are excellent jumpers and will jump from an uncovered tank, so be sure to have an adequate cover. I lost the little guy above to carpet surfing!

Re: online ordering??

It's a bit high, but at this time of year and depending on your geographic location, it may be the right price for your area. I paid $49.00. You can definitely get it for less on line, but unless you go with a company that has free shipping for orders over a certain amount, it could end up costing you more on-line as the overnight shipping cost will be high.
