Varga's Skimmer Poll

I'm in the market for a new skimmer. Sold the old one due to crazy high cost of running it. what you guys think? please let me know if there's another one along the same lines and price.

Thank you all as always

Re: Varga's Skimmer Poll

I am not sure what to explain... I use Precision Marine because I was told that they do a great job. So far I have had no problems with skimmer. I have 2 different ones I have a Bullet 1 and a Venturi ES-100. I like how the work and the job they do.

Re: Varga's Skimmer Poll

I bought a terminator from Jack.
Love it. No problems so far. Less than 1 year in operation.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Re: Varga's Skimmer Poll

If those are your options then I would go for the octopus. IMO though you need a Beckett style skimmer to handle the water volume you have. How about a Bubble king or ATI if you can afford it? Unfortunately with your size system your going to need to spend the big bucks in the right area's to have a happy reef long term.
I think you have the skills to also build a large skimmer Varga. You might want to consider that option also.

Hey Frankie,

I actually have a very decent Beckett but its costing me almost $40/mo to run. You don't think one of the above would do the same job?

Re: Varga's Skimmer Poll

Those are very nice skimmers Adam. Maybe I should up my budget. and yes I have a closet literally filled with cheap items that don't work

I'm getting 300 selling my old skimmer and maybe another 300 selling some RC toys so I just might be able to get the real deal

I was surprised to find some negative feedback on the RSM line as well

I like the octopus skimmers since they all seem to have a pretty small footprint. my sump is only 13" wide

Re: Varga's Skimmer Poll

Now this looks pretty amazing!

with a meshwheel impeller will pull up to 50 scfh
draws less than 25 watts of electricity per pump

Thats just crazy! I emailed them about footprint

Re: Varga's Skimmer Poll

right now I have a Beckett MOD etss 600 which I love but it just uses way too much power. and a friend wants it so....

less than 25 watts per pump= around $3.50/mo
my skimmer= $32-37/mo
