Re: Updating....

CUC
4 Astrea Snails
4 Nassarius Snails
1 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Pink and Black Cucumber

I would think you may want more than that in your tank especially later on. With a smaller tank you really want to stay on top of the CUC situation to try and keep things "CUC'd" as they happen... great terms eh?

CORALS

Yellow Fiji Leather
Orange Monti Cap
Colony Green Star Polyps
Colony Zoas
Sun Coral
Pink Stylo
Torch Coral
Pink Birdsnest
Pulsing Xenia

I'm thinking this is your "Long Term" list right? I mean some of those are WAY on down the road for ya but good corals none-the-less. I'd give a LOT of thought about the Sun Coral... been there done that one....

INVERTS

Blue Maxima Clam
Blue Velvet Nudibranch
Rose Bubble Tip Anemone

Just remember of the potential for "Problems" with Nudi's nuking a tank with and a smaller water volume that's only "exaggerated".

FISH
....unknown.... GREAT choice here LOL

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Updating....

lol i have had my round with anemones and i just won't get one ever again. Don't let my opinion sway you, i have just had bad results with them. From stinging me... had one eat a yellow tail damsel... knock a coral over... block out the light from reaching my coral. i just don't like them lol

The velvet looks nice. what do they eat?

Re: Updating....

lol great terms Al! And of course that list is long term! You know me better than that the only thing that will be in my tank for the first 4 months besides water rock and sand is the CUC.

Re: Updating....

As far as I know they eat algae, and detritus from the water column as well as the rock. But thats something I have to do more research on.I want to make sure I know all there is to know about the little Nudi before I purchase it

Re: Updating....

Ph I lost some corals in my tank because of one. It went behind a rock one night to never appear again. A couple of days later I noticed the water was "Coffee" look and it had "expired"

I lost a BEAUTIFUL devil's finger and a FrogSpawn to it. I did water changes 3x a day and ran INSANE amounts of carbon for about 3 weeks to get everything back in line. No more nudis for me

Re: Updating....

but like I said, I am going to do ALOT more research on it before i purchase it. And besides, one of the greatest things about this hobby is freedom.I can change my list anytime, or stick to it. Thats just a broad general long term list. lol it's my BGLT list

Re: Updating....

yea, i had put a thread about the green coraline up a while back and asked what it looked like and they showed me and it looks alot like what i had and when i saw some on the glass i tried to scrape it off and i had to use my thumb nail to do it.

Al said his was green then turned purple and i hope that doesn't happen to mine =(

i like the contrast between the two colors
