I wish I got commission! I'm just very much PRO LED and Steve has an awesome product with a very attractive "price point".

Re: Updating....

Al if I turn the back into a fuge what am I supposed to use as my other form of filtration? I don't want it to just be filtered by a fuge

Re: Updating....

well like all said earlier, lose the bio-balls, and if the sponge must be change very regularly...

i steer away from any kind of pad or anything like that just because i don't want to risk any negative effects.

Re: Updating....

the only thing that makes me nervous about leaving a sponge is nitrates and ammonia, but I guess if it is changed and cleaned regularly there wont be a problem

Re: Updating....

hmm... use a mogul connection and a 15 watt PC bulb that connects by mogul connection...

bulbs can be bought at petco and petsmart

fixture can be purchased at lowes and home depot

a small amount of chaeto shouldn't be a problem as the stuff is very easy to compact =D!!

Re: Updating....

nah... does the bio cube have a flow control on how fast it circulates water through there?

if it does... you could turn it down... buy some of "Sea chems De*Nitrate" and let that be your rubble

its basically the same thing but it is much smaller peices and very dense... GREAT for anerobic bacteria

Re: Updating....

exactly! I gotta tell ya... i have been using a Rena filter
identical to the one here Rena HOB filter

and although it was great for picking up any over feeding and things like that.... you had to stay constant with the filter changes....

I changed an old HOB filter into a HOB fuge with parts i had laying around... it cost me $0 and (here is the kicker) My fish, my coral, my crabs and my snails have never been healthier.... since this i have kinda sworn of mechanical filters
