| Reef Lobster | Re: how do you feed one fish seperately? get a bunch of SPS corals and let him pick at them....filefish are notorious sps eaters and they do it for substance not just because they can....sps to a file fish is like an all you can eat buffet lol they are extremely hard to care fore and really should only be handled by experts or people with alot of money to burn on SPS corals but thats if you can get them to eat alot of them won't eat they do not have a good survival rate

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: how do you feed one fish seperately? What Tru2nr said is true - they will almost never accept "feedings" and typically die within a couple months of being introduced to a captive system. The only chance of success is to have a very large sps system where they can constantly "munch" on the acropora polyps. Here's a decent article on them: Files Not Meant For Your Toolbox (or Reef Aquarium!): The Genus Pervagor by Henry C. Schultz III - ReefKeeping.com

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: how do you feed one fish seperately? Josh think long and hard about this one buddy. This is one heck of a tough one to keep alive long term. I'm not saying you CAN'T do it but I'm saying you need to seriously think long about it. Few people have any success and fewer still with long term success. With that said... (time to straddle the fence sort of)... if it weren't for previous "experimenters" trying to keep the "Shouldn't keeps" we wouldn't have some of the wonderful (and now easy to care for) animals in our systems. But at the same time the people who have brought us so far have a VAST amount of experience and a wealth of kowledge to be able to act and react to any given problems they encounter. I guess what I'm saying is it's ok to "experiment" when you gain the level of knowledge and experience to where you "Know" most of the answers to begin with or at least have a solid foundation to work and build upon. Talk about "Talking in circles".....

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: how do you feed one fish seperately? They eat only Acropora polyps (sps). The fish won't eat your soft corals (may pick at them and bother them), but without Acropora, the fish is likely going to starve to death. Do you have sps or just soft corals?

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: how do you feed one fish seperately? Soft corals and LPS are not the same as Acropora. Acropora require very high lighting, and have no soft "flesh" - they are often referred to as "sticks" - they look a lot like branches. A couple pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() Many different colors and formations, but that's the general idea.
