Re: ZAPCOnj's 900 +/- Gallon Future basement project... need some advice/input!

I can't wait to see this come to life. Post lots of pics! If it were me I would have the predator and FOWLR plumbed to the same sump and the reef system on another.

I'm not sure what you mean? I would only be using ONE room as a sump/filter room. Both proposed sump/filter rooms have enough space to fit 3 100gal tanks. they just need to be plumbed with the pvc from the Displays to the room.

as for what is going to be in the rest of the room. I'm thinking a Pool table or some kind of gaming table. and a arcade game or two. The GF is considering some more seating. I said i wanted a Pole in the basement but she kind of gave me a little look and shook her head.

If we get in the house by the end of the summer and have the tanks set up and running by the time MACNA comes around I would be happy to host an Invitation only BBQ at the house.

hahah get a pole and runway!! thats sick! HAH... but back to the tank.. if that 1st sump room on the left is enough space to hold all the tanks volume then y do you need that other sump room?? just a q...
and i would get a pool and ping pong table.. and maybe an arcade machine.. i have that at my house and its sick

also, on one of the walls we had a sick tv set up with 1 main 60" and the 4 42's above it.. it makes for good conversation starter.. just some suggestions..

the other one is listed as an option and is a little larger than the one closest.

That's what i'm thinking. the main video wall will most likely have a 60+" Sharp Aquos or LG screen and the bar will have at least 1 32" Sony Bravia. A buddy of mine owns an arcade so i can get pretty much any game i can fit down there.... I'd love to get a DDR or some kind of interactive game in there... I also have to fit some of my Studio equipment down in the basement somehow. I could make the second sump room a small studio too.. we'll see. getting the Aquarium section set up is the main thing. I the rest can all be done on the fly.

So I'm thinking about $400 a month just in maintenance cost. What are you planning on?

I haven't really thought about it. I'm doing as much as possible to keep the costs down. using the LED lights and being able to mix my own water and such.

The way i look at it is this.. both me and the GF want the tank system. it'll cost what it costs. lol... as long as i'm under $500 a month I would be good to go. we're also incorporating a solar system on the house that should help cut down on my electric costs.

Re: ZAPCOnj's 900 +/- Gallon Future basement project... need some advice/input!

well we stopped by the the new house model today and found out that the closet nearest the stairs (see image above) is actually another smaller outcove like where the proposed aquarium cove will be. since that would make a really nice "frag" station. I will be working in 3 more tanks there. the set up will be similar to the Main display system but much smaller. I'm looking at a 40 gal breeder (my current tank) in the center and two 20 gal long tanks on the left and right.

I have a new question for the boards. if i set up a "frag station" in this location should it have it plumbed in to the Reef system? or should i run an independant sump/fuge system under ther 40 breeder (in the stand)?
