| Cabbage Leather | Algae on backwall Well, my tanks (knocking on wood) are finally settled down and everyone is doing great. I have a lot of green and purple algae along with white spots on the back wall that won't scrape off easily. I am wondering if it is better to just go ahead and leave it there. |

| Bryozoan | Re: Algae on backwall Personally I think a tank looks much nicer with-out it. I use a razor to keep mine clean.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Algae on backwall It is really a matter of opinion. Some scrape it and some leave it. It's really up to you.

| Cabbage Leather | Re: Algae on backwall It does kind of look pretty on that black wall. Would look better if it covered all the black. Would add lots of color to a dull back I don't have plans on taking this tank down for years, so I don't imagine there is any harm in leaving it there. Although, I probably won't let it grow on the side glass. Like to have the sides to look through as well as the front ![]() |

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Algae on backwall It's up to you. It all depends on what look you want for your tank. It could be any number of types of algae but if it's not too hard to scrape I'd make sure I kept it at bay. The longer it goes the harder it is to get off.

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.
